San Diego Comicon/ July 24-27

The word is out... MINDstyle will release the highly anticipated SDCC Exclusive Benny & Red Bird Cool version on Wednesday, July 23rd at our MINDstyle Booth #4249. Limited to only 150 pieces, this highly sought after art toy set will be available each day by random drawing. Tickets will be given out each morning with numbers drawn and posted for day-of sales at 12 Noon. (The only exception will be on Preview night where the figures will be sold first come first serve basis while supply last!)
Only 25 pieces will be available each day. There is a limit of one per person daily.

Who will have the figures available? Of course, all MINDstyle Premium retailers will have the figures and just about everywhere fine mini figures are sold.

What is the display ratio? 3/15 MASAO 3/15 WINSTON 3/15 BEAUMONT 3/15 DEXTER 2/15 AUBRIE 1/15 NIGEL ????? SECRET (There are only 300 randomly inserted in displays) ????? Select retailers will carry the color variants and exclusives

What is the production size: As with most mini figures -- the production runs are traditionally open. We can tell you the following: There are less than 2000 of any one figure made of Series I; There are only 300 secret figures randomly packed

What is the suggested retail price: SRP: $11.99

Just how limited are the exclusives? Only 200 pieces of each exclusive will be available worldwide and in a few cases, there could be more, and there even may be less in other events with extremely rare color ways.

What is the price for exclusives? SRP: $15.00

Why do exclusives cost more? Exclusives are produced separate from the production run; and in limited amounts by industry standards. Traditionally, there are minimum quantities set by the factory to open production. So, with only 200 or even less, the figures simply cost more to manufacture and are instantly of greater value.

When will the exclusives be released? There will be two exclusives available at SDCC with additional versions on a monthly basis

Can I buy exclusives released online or where I live? It will depend on the retailer but all show exclusives are available to Art Toys Society (ATS) members.

Who did the box design? Again, Rob Schwager worked with Kathie on an amazing design.

Who does the packaging? MINDstyle creative takes pride in working with the respective artist on bringing their vision to market from concept to finished product.

What is the special packaging all about? The flip top gift box is closed by a magnet and comes with a slip cover. We've found collectors find the packaging equally as important, so we've made every effort to create something that is worth keeping. Kathie's products are high in demand and quickly rise in value, why doesn't MINDstyle simply produce more figures? In most cases, the production run and color ways are discussed with the artist at the start of a project not knowing the demand. At MINDstyle, the artist has final approval on all products manufactured. Our goal has been to produce quality products that meet our high standards.

How can I make my own custom? Fans and collectors will be happy to know that DIY do-it-yourself versions of MASAO, AUBRIE and DEXTER will be available for a limited time at retailers and events.

When is Series II be released? The exact date has not been set, but it will be in the 3rd quarter of this year.

Spent the weekend hanging out with our favorite people (Colin & Sas, Mark Murphy, TJ & Lainey, etc), finally got to meet Travis Louie in person and spent some time with the very cool and extremely humble Jeff Soto.

Just got back from San Francisco for our amazingly talented friend Sas's solo show and new book release at the Shooting Gallery. We finally got to meet the gallery director, Justin Giarla, who hooked us up with some paintings by a favorite new artist, Paul Chatem. We are officially running out of wall space. We also picked up a painting by Damon Soule at the show next store at White Walls gallery; that show featured new paintings by Damon, Mars-One, and Oliver Vernon.

I recently signed a licensing deal with
La Marelle Ediitons, a French Publisher, who will be producing several post card books and journals of my work. Ok, so all of the text will be in French...I should have some product available by the end of the year-- atleast there will be pictures.
Also, I will have a few pics in the upcoming Pictoplasma Character Encyclopedia and Dot Dot Dash Art Book.

New Prints...
I just added several new prints available for purchase on my website. All of the new images are from my recent solo show, Parasitic Haze. These new prints are on 13x19" watercolor paper. I've had to raise the prices on this series ($75 Retail) as my costs have gone up. I've left the older series prints at $50 retail as most of the older editions have either sold out or are very close to selling out.

Just got back from Los Angeles where I had my first BIG solo show on the West Coast. The opening went really well, and everyone at Copro Nason was amazing to work with. They all worked really hard to hang my show, along with the other two artist that were showing in separate galleries. Chet Zar and Naoto Hattori also had solo exhibitions; both are amazing painters! I was able to meet so many interesting people, several collectors that I had never met face to face; there was such a great turn out, amazing conversations and dialogue. Finally got to meet fellow artists Luke
Chueh, Nathan Spoor, and Anthony Ausgang, as well as our book desinger/ publisher Mark Murphy who drove all the way from San Diego to check out the show. Mark is amazingly talented and down to Earth and we can't wait to get the book rolling.
The show did very well; I sold about 40 pieces so far and couldn't be happier. Copro will be doing a limited edition canvas of the signature painting in the show- Parasitic Haze. More info on that later.
While in LA we had to stop off at Gallery 1988 where Thomas Han was showing along with a few other artists-- we ended picking up a couple of sculptures from Bwana Spoons.
